Who are you and what does Yuno Matcha represent?
Yuno Matcha is a Quebec-based company founded by individuals passionate about wellness and Japanese traditions. We directly import exceptional matcha from the Yame region of Japan, renowned for the finesse and richness of its teas. Our mission: to offer you authentic, pure matcha that respects the work of the producers.
Your satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do.
Where is your matcha from?
Our matcha is grown in Yame, Fukuoka Prefecture, in southern Japan. This region, with its ideal climatic conditions, is renowned for producing some of the country's finest green teas. Each harvest is carefully selected to guarantee a refined taste and incomparable freshness.
What is your brand philosophy?
We believe in accessible, high-quality matcha that respects traditions and nature. Yuno Matcha is an alliance of Japanese expertise, transparency, and a commitment to your well-being.
We work meticulously to offer you a healthy, delicious, and enriching consumption experience.
Has your matcha won any awards or distinctions?
Yes, the matcha farm we collaborate with has received multiple awards and recognitions. Our matcha won a prestigious award at the World Tea Awards in 2018 and 2024, an international recognition that testifies to its exceptional quality. This award honors the meticulous work of our producers and the rich taste of our tea.
Why did you choose Yame matcha from Japan?
Because Yame is an exceptional land. Little known to the general public, it is prized by connoisseurs for the depth of its aromas, its natural sweetness, and its nutrient concentration.
By choosing Yame matcha, we offer you the best of Japan, with a unique taste that stands out from the first cup.
What sets Yuno Matcha apart from other brands?
What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to absolute quality. We only select matcha from the first spring harvest, grown in Yame, a Japanese region renowned for its exceptional teas.
Every jar of Yuno Matcha is the result of ancestral know-how, a deep respect for nature, and an attention to detail at every step.
We make no compromises; your satisfaction is our priority.
What is the difference between your matcha grades?
We offer three grades of matcha, each suited for a specific use:
• Premium Barista: Ideal for lattes, smoothies, and recipes. Bright, slightly bitter taste, perfect for creative blends.
• Ceremonial: To be drunk pure, with hot water. Silky texture, delicate and umami notes. The perfect balance of sweetness and intensity.
• Grand Cru: Our most refined matcha, hand-picked. Complex aroma, deep flavor, a unique sensory experience for true connoisseurs.
Regardless of the grade, you always enjoy authentic, vibrant, and fresh matcha.
How is your matcha grown?
Our matcha is hand-cultivated in Yame, according to Japanese traditions. The tea plants are shaded for several weeks before harvest to increase their chlorophyll and L-theanine content. The young leaves are then hand-picked, delicately steamed, dried, and finely ground with stone mills.
This demanding process guarantees a rich taste and an exceptionally fine powder.
Is it organic? Do you have a certification?
Yes. Our matcha is JAS Organic certified, Japan's official organic certification. This guarantees that no chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or GMOs are used in cultivation.
You can enjoy your matcha with confidence, knowing that it adheres to strict standards of sustainable and ethical production.
Why is the color of matcha important?
Color is one of the best indicators of quality. A bright, vibrant green means the leaves are young, rich in chlorophyll, freshly ground, and well preserved.
It also guarantees a balanced taste, a refined aroma, and a high concentration of nutrients.
At Yuno Matcha, we only select batches with a vibrant color to guarantee a product that is as good for your palate as it is for your well-being.
How to identify quality matcha?
A high-quality matcha is recognized by:
• An intense emerald green color
• An ultra-fine and silky powder
• An umami, sweet, and slightly bitter taste
• A fresh vegetal aroma
At Yuno Matcha, each batch is tested and selected according to these criteria. We only offer products that meet the highest standards of Japan.
What is the harvest date of your matcha?
We only use first harvest (Ichibancha) matcha, picked in spring. This harvest contains the tenderest leaves, richest in nutrients, making it the best choice for quality matcha.
It is this high standard that gives our matcha its pure taste and unique intensity.
How long does your matcha last?
Unopened, our matcha can be stored for up to 12 months in its airtight packaging, away from light and heat.
Once opened, we recommend consuming it within 3 months to preserve its freshness, aroma, and color.
Fresh matcha guarantees an optimal experience, and that's exactly what we want for you.
How to prepare a traditional matcha?
To enjoy your matcha authentically, here are the recommended steps:
- Sift 1 to 2 g (about 1 teaspoon) of matcha into a bowl.
- Add 60 to 80 ml of hot water (max. 80°C, never boiling so as not to burn the aromas).
- Whisk with a chasen (bamboo whisk) in an M shape until a fine foam is obtained.
This method brings out all the subtleties of matcha, its sweetness and its umami.
What equipment should I use?
The essentials for properly preparing your matcha:
• A sieve to avoid lumps
• A matcha bowl (chawan)
• A bamboo whisk (chasen)
• A bamboo scoop (chashaku) or a regular teaspoon
You can also use an electric frother if you are a beginner. The important thing is to mix well and not to overheat the water.
Can I make lattes, smoothies, or recipes with your matcha?
Absolutely! Our Premium Barista grade is perfect for lattes, creative recipes, or smoothies.
Here is the recipe for our signature latte, served at our tastings:
• 2g matcha (or 1 tsp)
• 100 ml hot water at 80°C max
• 120 ml frothed oat milk
This recipe makes a balanced, creamy, plant-based, and lactose-free drink. You can also use almond, soy, or cow's milk, according to your preferences.
Matcha remains stable when hot, but avoid boiling water to preserve its taste.
What is the recommended daily dose?
The ideal dose is between 1 and 2 g per serving, equivalent to one cup per day.
You can consume more if you are used to caffeine, but we recommend listening to your body.
Our matcha provides stable energy, without the peaks and crashes of coffee, perfect for focus or an active day.
Can I eat it cold?
Yes! Matcha is delicious cold. You can prepare it as an Iced Matcha Latte by diluting it in a little warm water, then adding cold milk and ice cubes.
It's a refreshing alternative, just as nutritious and enjoyable as hot matcha.
Does matcha replace coffee?
Yes, and much better according to many of our customers! Matcha contains caffeine but also L-theanine, which slows down its absorption. The result: a gentle and sustained energy, without jitters or crash.
Perfect for starting the day, focusing, or simply taking a moment for yourself.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Matcha naturally contains caffeine, although less than coffee. Generally, one serving (1 to 2 g per day) remains within recommended limits.
However, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before consuming it during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
What are the health benefits of matcha?
Matcha is much more than just a tea: it's a true wellness ally, consumed for centuries in Japan for its many benefits:
• Stable and long-lasting energy, without the crash of coffee
• Enhanced focus and mental clarity, thanks to L-theanine
• Rich in antioxidants, especially catechins, which help protect cells from oxidative stress
• Promotes relaxation, while keeping the mind alert
• Supports metabolism and digestion
At Yuno Matcha, we believe that what you consume should nourish both body and mind. That's why we offer you pure matcha, with no additives, and full of vitality.
Does your matcha contain caffeine?
Yes, naturally. A 1g serving contains approximately 30-35 mg of caffeine, which is less than coffee, but with a milder and more prolonged effect.
The presence of L-theanine in matcha allows for a gradual release of energy, without agitation or palpitations.
This is one of the reasons why more and more people are replacing their morning coffee with a good matcha.
Can matcha help with focus or calmness?
Absolutely. Matcha is often called "meditation tea." Its unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine helps to enter a state of calm alertness, ideal for working, studying, creating, or simply being in the present moment.
It's the perfect balance between dynamism and serenity.
Is it suitable for a vegan or ketogenic diet?
Yes. Our matcha is 100% pure, vegan, with no added sugar, gluten-free, and GMO-free, and is compatible with a ketogenic or low-carb diet.
It fits perfectly into a healthy lifestyle and is suitable for anyone who wants to make conscious dietary choices.
What nutrients are found in matcha?
Our matcha contains:
• Catechins (EGCG), powerful antioxidants
• Chlorophyll, excellent for natural detox
• L-theanine, which promotes calm and concentration
• Vitamins A, C, E, and several minerals (zinc, potassium, iron)
By consuming Yuno Matcha, you absorb the entire leaf, and therefore all its benefits.
It's a simple, natural, and delicious way to take care of your health every day.
